I practice yoga to help me move with lightness and freedom, finding the effortlessness in the effort. Feeling the aliveness within that connects the mind and body. This way of practicing is useful for men and women over 35 who notice that they no longer move with the same ease and effortlessness as they used to. The menopause can have a massive change on the body and mind in women and men who also experience hormonal changes at this age.
As you move through the decades it becomes noticeable how flexibility and agility decrease in the body as you develop bad postural habits and ways of walking, sitting and standing. With a regular Yoga practice you can improve your posture, balance, coordination and ways of moving in daily life.
I am currently training (2022 -2024) with Peter Appel, wonderful somatic movements which make the body more elastic and stonger. I find practicing these movements allows me to walk, run, sit, walk up and down stairs and move around generally with less effort. These developmental patterns of movement (that we practice in class) are already embedded in our cells and memory so all we have to do is relearn them. Moving with ease and flow as you get older is what’s most important, isn’t it?
I’ve been practicing Yoga for 25 years and teaching for over 20, I continually update my own practice, so that I can bring the best and latest Hatha Yoga practices directly to you. I can offer you a wealth of experience. Many People come to Yoga because of bad health or injury I can offer you the professional guidance you need to practice safely as a qualified Yoga Therapist since 2012. I facilitate Yoga and Mindfulness for the SE Trust and local Mental Health Charities.
Offering you “a space” in your life to strengthen, move, connect, heal and calm your Body and Mind. Yoga and Mindfulness give you the skills to cope with everyday living, that makes your life easier, happier and more fulfilling on and off the mat. As a trauma centred Mindfulness Coach and facilitator, I teach yoga from a body/mind connect approach.
This style of practice is fun, life changing, strength building, empowering and encourages you to begin a journey of self care for your mind and body.
